Logistically, it has been a godsend. Working with Corey has saved me dozens of hours of trying to figure out our finances on top of all my responsibilities as a COO for a small startup.
I would say that the biggest difference between having a fractional CFO and hiring someone in-house is the time spent training someone new. Sometimes when you hire a new person onto your team, especially at the C-suite or executive level, it can feel like you’re taking a hit, especially when you’re a small startup. Hiring a fractional CFO with experience has given us more confidence as a company because we aren’t concerned about having made a bad hire, waiting for them to catch up, or worrying that something is going to happen or change with their behavior and their performance. Working with a fractional CFO has made us feel that we’re in good hands.
Much better reporting is definitely one of the differences that we’ve seen since making Fully Accountable part of our team. Getting the correct reporting, sometimes too much data is not a good thing, so having someone to help us to really sparse out what is necessary and unnecessary has also helped us realize what is important and what metrics we do need to follow.
